What is a powerbag?

A power bag, or a weighted training bag, is filled with sand or filler and features multiple handles for easier grip during strength, conditioning and functional workouts. Available in 5-20 kg, these weighted sandbags have shifting loads, making them ideal for progressive workouts like squats, presses and carries.

Why is a sandbag different from dumbbells or kettlebells?

Sandbag has an unpredictable load and shifting weight feature that forces the body and muscles to constantly adjust. Compared to fixed weights like dumbbells, working out with sandbags increases core activation, balance, and stabiliser muscle engagement, meaning that your core has to brace harder and you have to grip harder, making your entire body synchronise.

What exercises can I do with a competition sandbag ?

You can perform a wide range of strength and conditioning exercises with a sandbag including squats, lunges, carries, presses, cleans and slams.

What muscles do powerbag or sandbag work?

With sandbag you can do full-body workouts, so it can target the core muscles, arms, shoulders, hip flexors, quadriceps, chest, legs and glues.

Are weighted powerbags effective for building strength and muscles?

Weighted powerbags are highly effective for building both strength and muscle, especially when used consistently and progressively (increasing weight, reps, or intensity over time). Exercises like cleans, squats, presses, and carries engage multiple muscle groups at once, helping you build full-body strength and muscles.
